I’m a professional speaker who specializes in helping people increase their productivity and

The people who hire me are called "meeting planners". They work for "associations" which
are groups of business professionals in a particular profession. For example, there are
associations for engineers, accountants, small business owners and more. Meeting planners
book the speakers for the associations’ annual conventions and conferences.
I also present programs for small to mid-size companies at annual conferences or retreats.
Keep that in mind as well when you’re gathering referrals.
If you know of an association or small to mid-size company that might be interested in
helping their members or employees increase productivity, here’s the way I handle referrals:
If I am able to book a PAID speaking engagement at a convention/conference/company from
the referral information you supply*, I will send you a check for $150. It’s that simple.
If I receive the same or similar referral information from more than one referrer to the same
person/association/company, the individual whose e-mail I receive first** will receive the
referral fee (if all requirements on this web page are met). Please note that I do not accept
international engagements.
Here’s what I need from you to be eligible for the referral fee:
1. Put "Referral from (YOUR NAME)" in the subject line and include the following in your e-
mail:
Referral Contact Information
Name of the meeting planner/event planner you are referring me to
Name of the association/company you are referring me to
Date of upcoming convention or conference (does not have to be in 2009)
Contact e-mail (general association, group or company e-mail accepted if personal e-mail
address not available or cannot be obtained)
Association/company website address
Your Contact Information Where You Would Like Your Referral Fee Sent
Whether or not you are a member of the association, group or company you are referring me
to (membership or employment with association or company NOT required to be eligible for
referral fee)
There is no limit to how many referrals you can make to me as long as they meet the
requirements I’ve set forth on this page. Try to supply as much information as possible*** to
expedite handling of your referral and payment of your referral fee. It is not necessary to
follow up with me to check on the status of your referral since the cycle time from referral to
hiring could take as long as 1-6 months.
*All offers for a paid speaking engagement are subject to my acceptance. Referral fee will
be paid when I receive the down payment from the meeting or event planner you referred.
**"First" will be determined according to the time and date stamp on the e-mail I receive with
the information I’ve requested.
***Do NOT just send me a list of companies or associations with only the
association/company name and phone number or website address. This would be
equivalent to going through a phone book or database and sending me information which I
can obtain by myself. Any referral with such sketchy information will not be acknowledged or
eligible.
